From Taiwan I received a Postcrossing card about Dragon Dances, a dance that is “most spectacular when performed during Chinese New Year” (which is today). Basically, a dance team mimics the supposed movements of a dragon, which symbolises the historical roles of dragons demonstrating power and dignity (1).
As I had never seen or even heard about a Dragon Dance, I looked it up on YouTube. This one is not from Taiwan, but it does give a good impression of what a dragon dance is all about. And this one shows a Taiwanese Luminous Dragon Dance – quite impressive to see the dragon dance in the dark (skip the first minute to see the action)!
